The STEAMBOAT MUSEUM preserves the memory of the old vessels that sailed through the São Francisco River Valley, transporting cargo and passengers between northern Minas Gerais and the interior of Bahia. Created by the City Hall and EMUTUR in March 2012, the museum was set up by the port dock, showcasing the original boiler of the Benjamin Guimarães Steamboat. The golden age of commercial navigation between Pirapora and Juazeiro (BA) flourished throughout the 1930s to the 1970s. In the museum, visitors can view dozens of photographic records of the old steamboats that sailed the São Francisco River Valley.
